Thomas Turner Shown Jr., 73, passed away November 27, 2024 in Jeffersonville, IN.

He was born on December 19, 1950 in Louisville, Kentucky to Mildred Shown (Powers) and Thomas Shown, Sr. In Louisville, Kentucky.

Tom (fondly called T.T.) grew up on Mitchell Hill located in Fairdale, KY in a home built by his father. Tom attended Fairdale High School and played on their football team as a barefoot kicker. Tom was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and sang in the choir.

After high school, Tom enlisted in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He served on a Landing Ship, Tank (LST). He enjoyed taking photographs of his time in the military.

After the war, Tom attended Trevecca Nazarene College in Nashville, Tennessee. It was there he met his first wife, Jane Anderson and soon to be mother of his children, April, Holli, and Heidi. Tom and Jane were married in April 1972 in Birmingham, Alabama, and then they moved to Louisville, Kentucky to start their family.

Tom began his career at Ford Motor Company and retired as a quality assurance inspector after 30 years of service.

Tom was passionate about cooking, cycling, fishing, woodworking, history, military history, audio equipment, and music. One of his favorite bands was The Who.

Tom was a lifelong and dedicated University of Kentucky Wildcats fan. He enjoyed college sports, especially basketball and football.

Tom had a brilliant and witty sense of humor. He was smart, creative, and generous, as well as had a brave and fearless spirit. He was a person who often did everything on his own, sometimes to his own detriment.

Tom is preceded in death by his father and mother; Thomas Turner Sr. and Mildred Salgren (Powers-Shown). He is survived by his daughters April Shown (James), Holli Pawley, and Heidi Painter. His sister Anita Jackson (Clyde); brother Herbie Shown (Helen); niece Emily Shown (Brian); nephew, Brandon Shown. His grandchildren, Nicholas Mathes (Shelby), Meredith Pawley, Cameron Pawley, and Brooks Painter; two great grandchildren, Sawyer Mathes, and Poppy Pawley.  His cat, a loyal furry companion Bennet Banderas (Bennie).

On December 19th, his birthday, he will be laid to rest in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central.
