Vance Collins Obituary

In Loving Memory of Vance Thomas Collins

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Vance Collins, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, friend, colleague, and selfless soul who left an indelible mark on all who knew him. On February 22, 2025, Vance quietly departed from this world, surrounded by close family, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, generosity, and unwavering love.

Born on April 13th, 1972, Vance Collins was a beacon of light who brought warmth and joy to everyone he encountered. His kindness was boundless, and he had an extraordinary ability to make others feel seen, heard, and valued. Whether it was a listening ear, a helping hand, or a kind word, Vance was always there, putting the needs of others before his own. He is well known as being a source of strength for all who know him.

Throughout his life, Vance dedicated himself to his family, friends, and work communities. He was a devoted husband to Angie, with whom he shared 18 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Vance was a proud and loving father to Riley, Jackson, and Hazel, all whom he adored and loved beyond measure, and instilling in them the values of love, empathy, and integrity.

In addition to his family, Vance touched the lives of countless others through his work and everyday interactions. Commonly known as ‘VC’, he was a pillar of strength and support for those in need, always going above and beyond to make a positive difference. His selflessness knew no bounds, and he leaves behind a legacy unmatched.

As an Ironman and avid runner, pursuits in which he found immense joy, Vance exemplified dedication, perseverance, and the pursuit of personal excellence. His love for Indiana University basketball was unconditional, always cheering with unwavering enthusiasm for his Hoosiers. He found profound happiness sharing his home, “campsite”, and his love of the outdoors with family and friends, creating unforgettable memories filled with fun and laughter.

A true scholar, Vance earned an Associate of Health Science in Respiratory Therapy and a Bachelor of Health Science in Cardiopulmonary Science from the University of Louisville.  He also earned an Executive Certificate of Management and Leadership from the MIT Sloan School of Management, and was working towards his Master’s degree in business, demonstrating his passion for continued education and lifelong learning.

Vance was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Collins, his Granny and Grandad, Tom and Rachel Madden, and Vance B. and Melrose Collins. He is survived by his loving wife Angie Collins, his cherished children (Riley, Jackson, and Hazel Collins), his mom, Donna Collins, his dear sisters Whitney Walsh (Logan) and Valerie Collins, his treasured nieces and nephews, and other close family members. He also leaves behind many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as many close friends, neighbors, and colleagues who were blessed to know him and share in his journey.

Though Vance is no longer with us physically, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of love, compassion, and selflessness will continue to inspire us to lead lives of kindness and generosity.
