Virgil Hamilton Miller Jr., 73, of Charlestown, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home on December 12, 2024. Born on December 20, 1950, in Louisville, Kentucky, he was the beloved son of the late Virgil Sr. and Martha Miller.
Virgil was born and raised in the Portland neighborhoods of both Louisville, Kentucky, and Portland, Oregon. He spent much of his life as a skilled machinist, retiring from Reynolds Aluminum after a dedicated career. A man of deep faith, Virgil was a devoted member of Southeast Christian Church, where he found community and purpose, particularly through his involvement with the Retreat and Country Lake programs.
Virgil loved life on the golf course, achieving a proud milestone with a hole-in-one in 2020. He was also a passionate Harley-Davidson enthusiast, cherishing time spent riding his Harley motorcycle. Known for his quick wit and sense of humor, Virgil delighted everyone with his Dad jokes and captivating storytelling.
Above all, Virgil was a wonderful father, a loyal friend, and a man who left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His legacy of laughter, kindness, and love will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
In addition to his parents , Virgil was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Nancy, Martha and Dodie; brother, Jack. He is survived by his 5 children; Robert Miller, Malissa Goodmon(Robby), Mary Jane Miller, Jessica Watts, Jennifer Adkins(Adam); sister, Carol Goodlett; 11 grandchildren, Alexis Toney, Ciara Miller, Aaron Simpson, Kenton Smith, Kyle Smith, Kelly Goodmon, Kassidi Hillard, Kalie Hillard, Jacob Hillard, Noah Monroe, Jeremiah Monroe; along with 6 great- grandchildren, Bentley, Amari, Brantley, Greyson, Delilah, Kohen.
A celebration of Virgil’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130 from 3-6pm with service to follow at 6pm.
