William “Todd” Brown, age 53, of Jeffersonville, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026. Known to many as “BIG COUNTRY,” he was a true hero in every sense of the word. Todd dedicated more than 30 years of his life to serving and protecting others through EMS as Paramedic and Firefighter, answering the call whenever his community needed him most.
Born to the late Susan (Higgs) Brown and James R. Brown, Sr., Todd lived a life defined by courage, compassion, and selfless service. He took immense pride in caring for the community he loved, often placing the needs of others before his own. Throughout his distinguished career, Todd served with EMS, was a paramedic, worked tirelessly on Search and Rescue teams, including SAR & operations & LETS, and stood shoulder to shoulder with fellow first responders in moments both challenging and triumphant. His mere larger than life presence, skill, and unwavering dedication saved countless lives and brought comfort to many in their darkest hours.
Beyond the uniform, he embraced life with passion and heart. He loved boxing, and won several professional titles in the ring! He loved the freedom of the open road while riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and cherished his time with his loyal K-9 Search & Rescue partners, Tanker & Holly, who worked alongside him and shared an unbreakable bond. Whether on a call, in training, or enjoying laughter with friends (Todd was always the life of the party), he lived with authenticity, strength, and kindness.
In addition to his parents, Todd was preceded in death by his wife, Kimberly Brown. He is survived by his brother, Jim Brown, Jr; and a wide circle of dear friends and colleagues within the Clark & Floyd County EMS communities who were honored to serve beside him and call him family. His legacy of service, bravery, and compassion will forever live on in the lives he touched and the community he protected.
Visitation will begin at 10 AM on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Steve Herald.
William Todd Brown will be remembered not only for the uniform he wore, but for the heart he carried—one that beat with dedication, honor, and love for others. He will forever be our hero.
