William (Bill) A. Schwender, 85, of Clarksville, Indiana was born on March 16, 1938, to Albert (Al) Schwender and Myrtle Smith in New Albany Indiana. He passed peacefully March 13; 2024, from Renal failure, after spending the preceding days surrounding by friends and family.
Bill graduated from New Albany High School in 1956. Graduated from Indiana University in 1960.
Served as an NCO United States Army: stationed in Korea where he was an MP
Married Laura Virginia Lamke Schwender August 1, 1964 (preceeded in death on Jan 9, 2020) after being married 55 years. He is survived by his son, Phillip Schwender and
daughter Laura Elizabeth Schwender Farris (Michael Trent Farris)
He has two grandchildren, Jacquelyn Michelle Farris Wood (Cameron Wood) And Chase Mitchell Farris and future great-grandchild Sullivan Jane Wood, who is due in May, 2024
Bill was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church since 1968. He served on numerous committees, chairing several, and devoted countless hours to his parish. He worked at ETNA Insurance and Ohio Casualty Insurance where he retired in 1999.
He was a dutiful son, a provider for his family, a partner for his wife, a wonderful father to his children and a warm loving adventurer with his grandchildren, whom he loved more than anything in this world and a good friend to a group of men who met every week for coffee and support.
There will be a visitation held on Monday, March 18, 2024 from 9:30am -11:00am with service to follow at St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 316 N. Sherwood Ave, Clarksville, IN 47129.
