William “Gene” Blevins, age 76, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Paoli, Indiana, Gene was the son of the late Carl and Elva Jean Blevins. His life was a shining example of faith, devotion, and strength.
Gene was the beloved husband of 56 years to the love of his life, Jeanie. Their enduring marriage was a testament to partnership, loyalty, and unwavering commitment. Together, they built a beautiful life and family, raising two children who brought him immense pride: Jill and Michael. Gene’s most cherished role, however, was that of "Pap" to his treasured grandchildren: Allison, Blake, Cooper, Kade, Kash, and Kate. He delighted in every game, performance, and milestone, always there with a proud smile and an encouraging word.
A man of deep faith, Gene was a faithfully dedicated member of Eastside Christian Church, where he served for over three decades as a small group Bible study leader. His love for scripture and servant's heart touched countless lives within his church community. He never sought the spotlight, but his wisdom, steady presence, and gentle spirit quietly inspired those around him.
Gene retired from Jeffersonville High School, where he worked with dedication and pride. Though retired, he never truly left the halls of JHS—his heart remained with the Red Devils, and he could often be found in the stands, faithfully cheering on the teams he loved so dearly.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon “Jeanie” Dalton Blevins; children, Jill Pennington (David) and Michael Blevins (Elizabeth); his six grandchildren; and brothers: Mike, Jim, and Craig Blevins, all of whom carry his legacy of faith, family, and love.
A memorial visitation where family and friends will gather to honor a man whose life was well-lived and full of purpose will be held 10 a.m. until service time Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Eastside Christian Church. A memorial service in honor of Gene’s life will be celebrated 12 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the conclusion of receiving hours,
Arrangements have been entrusted to Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, Indiana. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Eastside Christian Church or Hosparus.
