Winfred Irvin Locke, 80 of Jeffersonville, IN, passed away on April 12, 2025, at Clark Memorial Hospital. Dad was born to Dave and Velma Locke, being the 3rd eldest amongst his 6 siblings.
Dad, you were always my hero and the comedian of the family. You will be dearly missed. He would always speak encouraging words to his children and quote what his father used to tell him, “set your sites upon the stars, and if you fall upon the clouds, you will still be on high ground”.
He blessed his children with a spiritual foundation and instilled the meaning of family.
Among an array of occupations, Dad took particular pride in having been a detective with the Cleveland Police Department.
Dad’s favorite song was Golden Time of Day by Frankie Beverly and Maze, and requested it be played at his celebration of Life.
He had a passion for his family and sports, more specifically Basketball, football, and the Chicago “Cubies” (as he would call them)
He always made time for his children and maintained an amazing relationship with them throughout their adulthood.
Along with his parents he was proceeded in death by his loving wife Eunice, and Brothers David and Marshall. Dad is survived by his children, Darryl, Jennifer, Anthony and Lisa. His Sister Dorothy, Brothers William and Donald as well as many family members and friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life service held for Winfred at a later date, at the Eastern Cemetery in Jeffersonville IN, to say our final goodbye.
